Alan Sandow (b. 1952), drummer, joined Clive Shakespeare in the initial Sherbet lineup in 1969, before Daryl Braithwaite joined the band. Sandow had been in a band called the Daisy Roots, which split up when one of its members was called for national service. A promoter linked him with Shakespeare's outfit and he moved into a house in Surry Hills with other band members when he was just 17 years old. In an interview coinciding with the 30-year anniversary of the group's formation, Sandow observed that they only missed one gig in 15 years' touring. 'We never ripped anyone off and we always tried our hardest to put on a great live show - that was Sherbet.' Sandow now works for a regional airline.
