Photographic portraiture constructs, projects and reinforces images of Australian personalities. The public persona, brand or personal image of an actor, comedian, presenter or musician is partly defined by their portrait – at least for a moment. The experience of being the subject of a still photograph is very different to performing for moving image. A strong sense of trust underpins the collaboration, allowing the performer to relax into the shoot and create the portrait. Each of these images encapsulates a story of a photoshoot – forging personal connections, reflecting nuances of personality in the image and conveying the joy of working with exceptional performers.
