On-set stills photographers have no control over the momentum of filming that surrounds them. Using ‘blimp’ housings so camera clicks are inaudible, the photographers are a subtle presence on set and the collaboration with their subjects often develops over time. For publicists and producers, stills photographers deliver ‘episodics’ taken during filming that tell the story of the scene in one frame, along with on-set portraits of the actors and behind-the-scenes shots. Their work appears across marketing platforms from posters and magazines to web banners and online galleries.
