- This was taken as part of a series, documenting my, I call it my shit show roller coaster. 'Cause I don't like the term journey. I think it was, it made no sense to me that there was nothing that reflected, or very little that reflected the pain that is going through cancer and particularly for young women as well. I was not seeing many, many photos of that. And so I decided to yeah, document everything that I was going through and I didn't know where it would take me. And then, this was taken at the end of that and I think that, what other people have told me and I think what is in it, is that just kind of acceptance. Like I let it all out and I was like, okay, this is it. This is my reality. This is my life. This is where I'm at. And yeah, that's how I ended up getting this shot, which was taken into my bedroom and just, yeah so...

- And how does it feel to see the photograph on the walls, of the portrait gallery?

- Equal parts, horrifying, proud, and excited. When I first got the call, I honestly was like can I take it back? Like I don't want, I don't know if I'm ready to have this photo.

- Yes of course.

- Seen, so publicly. And then I reminded myself. I was like, no, actually this is why I submitted it, is so that it would be seen.
