Part of a series which aims to challenge the conventions of the photographic self-portrait, Body Emulsion Detachment presents the body as an ever-changing image held together by a thin film of photo emulsion. The repeated folding of the image distorts the body, leaving an elusive trace that is never fully realised as a whole. Nonlinearity and fragmentation are sometimes seen as dangerous; they are often associated with chaos, but in many ways they are very close to reality. I wanted to create a self portrait where change is the only constant.
