Karin Catt

Karin Catt grew up in Newcastle, where she began taking photographs of touring bands while a schoolgirl, and also in London and Hong Kong. Catt's grandfather was the general manager of MGM's Elstree Studios in England, and equipment he was able to provide increased her interest in photography. Continuing to shoot rock bands throughout her school years, she built up a portfolio of portrait subjects that now includes silverchair, Lou Reed, Fatboy Slim, REM, Ryan Adams, David Byrne, Ludacris and Eminem, whom she accompanied on tour in 2005. Working in the USA and Australia for magazines such as HQ, Rolling Stone, Vanity Fair, Condé Nast Traveller, LA Magazine, Marie Claire and Harper's Bazaar, Catt has photographed a host of actors including Jack Nicholson and Morgan Freeman and politicians and statesmen including Bill Clinton, George Bush Snr, Mikhail Gorbachev, Nelson Mandela and the Dalai Lama.
