Jozef Vissel started his career in photograph in Holland, where he was apprenticed to a commercial photographer. After working in England for two years he moved to Australia in 1960, in due course finding work as a stills photographer in the film industry. His photographs have been published in Australia, Europe, the USA and Japan and he has published two books, The Tongans (1978) and The Down Under T-shirt Thing (1979). The State Library of New South Wales holds a large collection of his work.
