Vicki Lee and Billy Higginson, 2010

by Jim Rolon

National Photographic Portrait Prize 2011 Finalist

Vicki and Billy are from Perth. I was in Tamworth for the festival and I heard them playing as I walked past the Red Cross Hall. They were playing and singing beautifully in the hall and having fun. Vicki and Billy are very talented having won major awards for their singing. I set up my kit and took this photograph. As a portrait photographer for all of my working life, this brief experience of seeing and connecting with my subject is what I love most of all.
