Jim Rolon

b. 1956

James Rolon has worked for thirty years as a commercial photographer, mostly for multinational advertising agencies and graphic designers. His commissions have included books, CD covers, magazine editorial, and exhibitions. Most of his assignments have been in Australia, the United States, and in the Middle East. His awards include a silver medal at the Cannes Advertising Awards; he was commended as a finalist at the Olive Cotton Awards, and has twice been a finalist in the National Photographic Portrait Prize. His exhibition Local Portraits showed at the Casula Powerhouse. Currently he is working on a series of local performance and visual artists’ portraits in their environments and on the inner city streets of Sydney and experimenting with video portraiture incorporating voice and music.
