‘Every year, I ask my sons to direct a photographic portrait to give to each other as a gift. Johnny decided we must visit what he imagines to be his brother Richie’s future house for a pic. Upon arrival, I was met with a beautiful slice of Australian life in all its eccentricities. This pic captures sweet nostalgia, good intentions and the overall enduring heat when wanting to wear a Christmas sweater in Australia.’

Mrs White aka ABBIE DAVIS is a Naarm/Melbourne-based photographer whose colour-saturated works layer pop culture and nostalgia.

National Photographic Portrait Prize 2025

The NPPP is an annual prize for Australian photographers. The year’s most outstanding photographic portrait is awarded a $30,000 cash prize and photographic equipment valued at $20,000 courtesy of our Imaging Partner, Canon Australia.
