National Photographic Portrait Prize 2012 Finalist
I was travelling along the Hume Highway early one hot January morning. I stopped in the breakdown lane to take a photo and this red car was parked nearby. Fadi Hijazi, Hanna Hijazi's husband, approached me and asked for help to kick-start his car, since the battery seemed to have died. Things took a while so I asked to take a few photos of the family while waiting for things to improve. In the end, I towed them to a garage in Picton since it wasn't a battery problem, rather, the head gasket had blown.
