‘This portrait was taken in David’s basement, putting his last load of washing through before going off to Perth for some time and then onto London indefinitely. He had decided to give acting his all. David’s portrait is part of my larger ongoing project, CITIZEN, spanning 30 years and 60+ countries, using the same strict parameters while taking portraits in arbitrary moments and often random encounters.’

Swedish-born photographer Ingvar Kenne is based on Gadigal Land in Sydney. His portraits, all of which adhere to the square composition of medium-format film, carry an immediacy and candidness that enables the individuality of each subject to emerge.
