George Fetting was selected for the Art Handlers’ Award for his portrait Antonio Intili – Sartoria (Tailor Shop) #1.

The Gallery’s Registration team who selected the work remarked that ‘the portrait tells a layered story about a life filled with many experiences, of places travelled and lived, of family and friends and of craftsmanship. It is an intimate portrait with a comforting presence that invites viewers into Antonio’s world at his tailor shop. His walls are scattered with images and postcards of places, handwritten notes and drawings from people in Antonio’s life. As Antonio gazes outward, his scissors are slightly open, the tape measure is draped around his neck and his work bench adorned with tools and spools; Fetting has masterfully captured Antonio at perhaps a rare quiet moment of reflection in what might normally be a busy workday at his tailor shop.’

Fetting receives $3000 courtesy of IAS Fine Art Logistics.
