Biography

Samuel Hood, photographer and photojournalist, began taking portraits and 'ship portraits' in the late 1880s (he is reputed to have photographed every vessel that entered Sydney Harbour between the 1890s and the 1950s; the Sydney Maritime Museum has nine thousand of his glass plates, prints and negatives).
