Rod McGeoch AM (b. 1946) studied law at the University of Sydney before joining the ABC to forge a long career as a law reporter, commentator and spokesman; with Margaret Throsby, he won the Golden Gavel Award for Excellence in Legal Reporting. He was the President of the Law Society of NSW in 1983 and 1984, and the Chairman of the College of Law from 1985 to 1999. He was Chair of the law firm Corrs Chambers Westgarth from 1994 to 2002. From 1991 to 1995, he was CEO of the Sydney Olympics 2000 Bid. He was chair of Australian Growth Properties Ltd from 1996 to 2003, chair of Pacific Healthcare Australia from 2002 to 2006 and Chairman of Vantage Private Equity Group Limited from 2005. He has served on the board of Ramsay Health Care Limited since 1997, the board of Destination NSW since 2011 and was chairman of SkyCity Entertainment Group Limited from 2004 to 2012. Meanwhile, since 1980 he has been a director of McGeoch Holdings. He was member of the council of the Sydney Symphony Orchestra from 1998 to 2003, deputy chair of the council of Knox Grammar School from 1999 to 2005, and director of the NSW Rugby Development Foundation from 1999 to 2004. Author of two books, McGeoch: A family history (1990) and The Bid (1994), he is a popular speaker on topics including business development, marketing, corporate strategies, leadership and team motivation, the law and the Olympic Games.
