John Slaytor (b. 1966) is a Sydney based commercial photographer and an accredited member of the Australian Institute of Professional Photography. His works have been acquired by the National Library of Australia and most recently, for the State Library of New South Wales archival collection. His entry in the 2008 Olive Cotton Award was highly commended and he has been included in the 2011 NPPP as well as the SMH’s Shoot the Chef Award. Slayter’s Mourning an Elder was a finalist in the 2013 Moran prize, the same year as his featured solo exhibition The Silent Sea was featured in Sydney’s HeadOn Photo Festival.
