Sean Hutton was born in Edinburgh, Scotland, and lives and works in Sydney. Interested in art from an early age, he is particularly inspired by portraiture, landscape and allegorical themes. He studied at the Julian Ashton Art School from 2011 to 2013, and was the recipient of the Sir William Dobell Scholarship in 2012. An established portrait artist, Hutton has been shortlisted for several prize exhibitions; one of his recent works, a portrait of the artist Tamara Dean, was a finalist in the inaugural Darling Portrait Prize and was Highly Commended.
