Henry Weigall Junior (1829-1925) was the son of sculptor, cameo engraver and medallist Henry Weigall (1800-1883). Weigall Junior exhibited at the Royal Academy from 1846, specialising in portrait and genre painting. His marriage to Lady Rose Fane, the daughter of a duke, secured his access to important patrons and fortified his already successful career as a portrait painter. His subjects included the Duke of Wellington and members of the Royal Family. Several paintings by Henry Weigall Junior are in the collection of NPG London as well as other public collections in the United Kingdom.
