The Rev. Fred Nile MLC (b. 1934) Leader of the Christian Democratic Party was born and raised in King's Cross, Sydney. He has been a member of the NSW Legislative Council since 1981 and launched the Christian Democratic Party in 1997 of which he is National President. Nile has since established branches in all Australian states. The legislation he and his wife, Elaine, have introduced into the New South Wales Legislative Council includes the Unborn Child Protection Bill, Anti Discrimination (Hetero-sexual Discrimination) Amendment Bill 1994, and the Gay Mardi Gras Prohibition Motion.
