Clive James AM

Clive James AM (b.1939) is an author and broadcaster. James studied at Sydney University and Cambridge University, where he was president of the Footlights revue group. His published work includes three best-selling volumes of autobiography, four novels, and numerous collections of travel essays, journalism, poetry, and literary criticism. He was television critic for the Observer from 1972-1982 and is a contributor to the New Yorker magazine. Since the 1980s James has hosted celebrity talk shows, and written and presented documentaries for the BBC and ITV. In 1995 he co-founded Watchmaker Productions, which produces studio shows and film specials. He was awarded the Order of Australia in 1992.
