Alice in Wonderland, 2006

I started taking photographs of myself when I was diagnosed with breast cancer. I could see myself looking intently at myself in the mirror, and I wanted to record that looking. In this way I was stepping back and observing the processes and changes that were happening to my body. I like the title Alice in Wonderland. I live in Alice Springs, Alice herself was a real woman, and the 'wondering' is not a reference to will I live or will I die, but rather to my curiosity about what was happening to me.
