Rocking the boat, 2006

by Mark Tedeschi

National Photographic Portrait Prize 2007 Finalist

Nicholas Cowdery is my boss. He is also the Director of Public Prosecutions. Although I like Nick very much and think that he is a terrific Director, the politicians don't like him much, because he is constantly rocking their boat. I took this photo at Pittwater on the outskirts of Sydney. I thought that Nick had a yacht, but when I arrived at Pittwater to photograph him, I found out that all he had was this little orange boat. As it turned out, it was all for the best.
