Sophie, 2013

by Sarah Rhodes

National Photographic Portrait Prize 2014 Finalist

Over the last five years, I have been interested in how children deal with becoming teenagers. Deeply self-consciousness, they play and experiment, shaping who they are, or at least, who they become. Sophie is about to become a teenager –– with so much confidence in her eyes and uncertainty in her pose.
