Sentinel, 2013

National Photographic Portrait Prize 2014 Finalist

As part of a large-scale video piece I worked with several actors and models in close physical proximity to each other. The brief was to channel strength and power and to imagine being an omnipresent sentinel looking out over the city providing a calm and benign presence to the people below. Zinnia got the brief and emoted beautifully. I found out later that she had been through a complicated time emotionally in the weeks and days before this sitting.
