Jenny Sages - artist, 2012

by Gary Grealy

National Photographic Portrait Prize 2013 Finalist

Jenny Sages is an artist of exceptional skill and talent. Her portraits have been exhibited in the Archibald Prize no less than 20 times. I saw a documentary on Jenny titled ‘Paths to Portraiture’, and I was taken by the tactile nature of Jenny’s practice; her hands seemed to caress the canvas. This drew me to make contact and request the opportunity to make a portrait. She was vibrant and generous, full of life and encouragement – it was a complete delight.
