National Photographic Portrait Prize 2009 Finalist
This image has been taken from a current project which examines how children are expressing their feelings and anxieties in reaction to the constant stimuli being generated by modern society. There is also an attempt to visualize these fears through the filtered memory of my own childhood experiences. Are the emotional responses the same, or has there been a fundamental shift in how children perceive, interact and cope with their environment?
Sandra Bruce chats with seven-time NPPP finalist Chris Budgeon about photography, guitars and representing the human story.
In its second year at the National Portrait Gallery, and for the first time touring to other venues, the National Photographic Portrait Prize 2009 continues to present surprising perspectives on the nature of contemporary portrait photography.
