‘I took this portrait of Rosemary as part of a series of portraits of teenage girls I was working on in 2006. Rosemary was 17 years old and working full-time as a carer in an aged nursing home.’
Petrina Hicks lives and works on Gadigal Land/ Sydney. Working primarily with staged, studio photography, Hicks creates meticulously composed portraits that explore depictions of women and feminine symbolism drawn from art history and mythology.
