National Photographic Portrait Prize 2025 Finalist
‘Shorty lives in one of the most rural areas of New South Wales surrounded by national parks. This is his last year before going to boarding school where he hopes to follow his love of football and meet new friends. The portrait forms part of a long-term photographic project that focuses on documenting regional agricultural life in NSW and the transition between generations of farmers.’
Luke David Kellett lives and works in Newcastle, NSW, on the Country of the Awabakal and Worimi peoples. His documentary photographs capture different parts of Australian life.
The People’s Choice Award is generously supported by the Calvert-Jones Foundation, with the artist who wins the most votes receiving $10,000.

The NPPP is an annual prize for Australian photographers. The year’s most outstanding photographic portrait is awarded a $30,000 cash prize and photographic equipment valued at $20,000 courtesy of our Imaging Partner, Canon Australia.
