The idea of combining a series of images to create a visual essay or sequence was very appealing to the young artist, who eagerly gathered influences from film studies as well as fellow photographers. For this photobook, Jerrems photographed people and stalls at the 1968 Royal Melbourne Show to capture the energy of the event. Her capacity to thoughtfully sequence photographs is already evident in this early exercise, with contrasting and recurring motifs structuring the work as a whole.
