Workshops and assisted access

Studio workshops

Workshops can be tailored in collaboration with educators, or you can book our combined collection tour and life-drawing program. 3 hour half day tour and workshop (limited numbers): $20 per student (materials provided). Full day tour and workshop program (limited numbers, senior students only): $40 per student (materials provided).

Professional development

For educators, we have programs for ESL teachers, art teachers, history teachers, English and drama teachers, primary teachers and early childhood teachers. The National Portrait Gallery is a registered provider with the Teacher Quality Institute, ACT. Contact Krysia Kitch, Manager Learning Programs to book a program or arrange a tailored experience.

Portrait Conversations

The Portrait Gallery offers programs/tours in association with Alzheimer’s Australia and also for people living with Dementia and their carers.

Access programs

Access programs are provided for students of all ages and abilities; these include drama programs and those for sight and hearing impaired students. Tailored programs are available for your students upon request, with advance notice. Contact Krysia Kitch, Manager Learning Programs.
