Drop in any time - free

Join artist Pamela See for a hands-on workshop inspired by her series Making Chinese Shadows (2017), which is currently on display in our In Bloom exhibition. Create a papercut portrait using silhouettes and flowers to tell your or someone else’s story.

Pamela will facilitate two sessions each day from 10:30am–12:30pm and 1:30–3:30pm. Can't make the session times? No worries! Papercut Portraits will be available as a self-directed experience until 4:30pm. Drop in any time.

This workshop is suitable for all ages and abilities. All materials provided.

Pamela See (Xue Mei-Ling) is an Australia-born artist who explores the migrant experience through the art of papercutting. Her technique bears resemblance to the Foshan style, which is endemic to her maternal home province of Guangdong in China. An Australia-China Council grant enabled her to receive instruction both there and in Shandong in the mid-2000s. Since that time, she has exhibited in Australia, Europe, North America and Asia. She holds a PhD from the Queensland College of Art and Design and a Master of Education, and consequently has a preference for creating participatory artworks.
