Country Fair

It's all about celebrating our pets with hooves, paws and claws on the lawns of the National Portrait Gallery. Join us for pony rides, a petting zoo, music, dancing, lawn games, jumping castles, craft and much more! Then see all our fuzzy companions at The Popular Pet Show exhibition, kids enter free!

We have a huge lineup of fun activities for young and old:

Pony and donkey rides provided by the National Equestrian Centre. ($5 per ride)

Meet all sorts of cuddly creatures provided by Noah's Ark Farm Friends Petting Zoo.

Listen to the Bush Capital Band perform traditional Australian tunes and have a dance with the Monaro Folk Society Dancers.

Have a go on the jumping castle or test your skills with our lawn games. ($2 per ride)

Face painting and balloon modelling. ($2 each)

Learn to draw country caricatures with Andrew Hore.

Observe amazing cake decorating, spinning and weaving and other crafty trades or join in to make an animal mask or puppet.

Watch the classic comedy drama Babe at 2.30 pm (rated G, entry by gold coin donation, spaces limited)

Popcorn, fairy floss and children's lunch packs available all day at the cafe.

Avoid fur infighting! Please leave your own animal companions at home-we'll provide all creatures great and small for the day.
