Gadrian Hoosan, a Garrwa and Yanyuwa musician and lead singer of The Sandridge Band, was photographed by Gudanji/Wambaya man Benjamin Warlngundu Ellis while performing at the 2021 Malandarri Festival in Borroloola, Northern Territory. Known for their rock/reggae blend, the musicians sing in their Garrwa and Yanyuwa languages.
‘The children are dancing to our song, Ngabaya, about the spirit people. It’s traditional dance, traditional song with modern music. Every time we perform everyone knows the song, everyone knows how to dance. It’s a story about the land. They’re all connected to the land.’
