Joseph Croft (c. 1926–1996) a Gurindji and Mudpurra man from the Northern Territory and member of the Stolen Generations, Croft was removed from his family when he was eighteen months old. In 1944, he became the first Aboriginal person to study at an Australian university. Joseph Croft was a Cultural Adviser in the Federal Department of Aboriginal Affairs from the mid-1970s and also served on the Anti-Discrimination Board. He remained active in advocating Indigenous rights throughout his life.
