Chris Gentle (b.1939) arrived in Australia from the United Kingdom in 1967 and is a painter, lecturer and writer. He taught at the National Art School, Sydney 1969 - 74. While Director of the Ivan Dougherty Gallery 1977 - 86 he completed a three-month commissioned painting and drawing trip in the Northern Territory and was part of the Young Contemporaries Lord Howe Island Art Project - the works were displayed at Stadia Graphics Sydney 1984. Gentle has had numerous group exhibitions and commissions. He is represented in state, corporate and private collections both in Australia and overseas.
