TWO WAYS/A dualistic system, 2017

by Dave Laslett

National Photographic Portrait Prize 2018 Finalist

Ngarrindjeri Elder Uncle Moogy is one of the busiest men I've ever met, and yet he makes time to preserve his culture, every day showing the importance of his connection to country and the people – his people – that it is made up of. Slipping between the two worlds seamlessly, Major Sumner (as he is formally known) takes a call from his granddaughter, whose birthday party he is late for.
