Sticks and stones: Wheelchair rugby, Disability, and art

Sunday 3 April 2016

On Sunday the 3rd of April, meet Daniel Savage – contemporary artist, disability advocate and wheelchair rugby player – for the first in our series of talks exploring culture and identity through the lens of Australia’s sporting culture.

Mr Savage has exhibited in galleries throughout Australia and overseas, he is a staunch advocate for the right of people with disabilities, and competes in wheelchair rugby at a state and national level. He will discuss the cross over of sport, art, and disability, its relationship to Australian disability identity, and how it has shaped his own practice. The talk will also feature a screening of his most recent video work ‘The Rugby Creed’.
