National Portrait Gallery Donors

Begun in May 1998, the National Portrait Gallery collection is growing rapidly. The majority of works in the collection have been acquired thanks to the generosity of our portrait donors.  The Gallery has also established a fund through which purchases of important portraits will be made. Donations of cash to this fund are tax deductible.  Unlike most art galleries in Australia, the National Portrait Gallery commissions portraits to build the collection and many of these would not have been possible had it not been for the generous monetary contributions from our benefactors and members of the public.

Gift and Bequest Program

You can personally support the National Portrait Gallery through gifts and bequests. The Portrait Gallery is enriched by receiving gifts and bequests which allow the Gallery to acquire significant works and to fully represent the achievements of Australians in all fields. Gifts can be in the form of works of art or cash, and bequests in the form of artworks, property or cash.
