Jack Thompson
Jack Thompson (b. 1940) was in the TV series Spyforce before becoming
the great actor of the Australian film renaissance. He was in Petersen
(1974), Sunday Too Far Away (1975), Mad Dog Morgan (1976), Caddie (1976),
The Chant of Jimmy Blacksmith (1978), The Club (1980), Breaker Morant (1980) – for
which he won an AFI best actor award and was named best supporting actor
at Cannes – The Man from Snowy River (1982) and Burke and Wills (1985).
Since The Sum of Us (1994), Thompson has acted primarily in U.S. film:
he was in John Woo's Broken Arrow (1996), Bruce Beresford's Last Dance
(1996), Clint Eastwood's Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil (1997),
Excess Baggage (1997) with Alicia Silverstone, From Hell (2001) and Star
Wars Episode II – Attack of the Clones (2002). In 2004 he is set to appear
with Sean Penn and fellow Australian Naomi Watts in The Assassination of
Richard Nixon.
