Geoffrey Simpson
Geoffrey Simpson is one of Australia 's foremost cinematographers.
His career began with the feature Centrespread (1981), and during the 80s
he worked on such local productions as The Blue Lightning (1986)
and Playing Beatie Bow (1989), for which he was named Australian Cinematographer
of the Year. After working with Gillian Armstrong on The Last Days of Chez
Nous (1992) he joined her in Hollywood to make Little Women (1994). His
other Hollywood credits include Peter Weir's Green Card (1990), Fried Green
Tomatoes (1991), Life (1999) and the infamous Mariah Carey flop Glitter
(2001). He has also worked on such major Australian films as Shine (1996)
and Armstrong's Oscar and Lucinda (1997).
