Frances O'Connor
Frances O'Connor (b. 1969) was born in England and arrived in Perth at the age of two. She trained at the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts, and appeared in Melbourne Theatre Company productions before a 1994 guest role in Halifax F.P. earned an AFI nomination and secured her the lead part in Love and Other Catastrophes (1996). She then appeared in Thank God He Met Lizzie (1997). When that film screened at Cannes , O'Connor was signed by an international agent, and shortly thereafter starred in Mansfield Park (1999). In 2000 she played Madame Bovary for BBC TV and was Brendan Fraser's dream girl in Hollywood 's Bedazzled. In 2001 Steven Spielberg handpicked her for A.I. She has since appeared in The Importance of Being Earnest and the big-budget Windtalkers (both 2002). She is currently making the science-fiction film Timeline , based on Michael Crichton's book.
