Heath Ledger
Heath Ledger (b. 1979) was born in Perth , and worked with the
Guildford Theatre Company before appearing in a number of Australian TV
dramas, including the ABC sports drama Sweat. He came to the attention
of U.S. audiences as the star of TV's Roar (1997), a medieval adventure
series made in Australia by America 's Fox Network. In 1999 he appeared
in two features: the Australian film Two Hands and the Hollywood venture 10
Things I Hate About You. He played Mel Gibson's son in The Patriot (2000),
and turned in an intense performance in the acclaimed Monster's Ball (2001).
After A Knight's Tale (2001), The Four Feathers (2002) and The Order (2003)
he returned to Australia to play Ned Kelly (2003).
