Anthony LaPaglia
Adelaide born Anthony LaPaglia (b. 1959) worked briefly as a schoolteacher before moving to New York at the age of 25. He did Off-Broadway plays and TV work before making his movie debut in Cold Steel (1987). Subsequent films included Betsy's Wedding (1990), He Said, She Said (1991), So I Married an Axe Murderer (1993), and The Client (1994). A vocal critic of Hollywood material, LaPaglia returned to stage work in the mid-1990s, appearing in Broadway revivals of The Rose Tattoo (1995) and A View From The Bridge (1998), for which he won a Tony award. He also appeared in the Australian films Brilliant Lies (1996), 'Looking for Alibrandi' (2000), The Bank (2001) and Lantana (2001). After his powerful and honest performance in Lantana , LaPaglia seriously contemplated retirement. But after a year away from the cameras, he returned to the big screen with Analyze That (2002), and is currently appearing in the successful CBS TV drama Without a Trace.
