Simon Baker (b. 1969) earned early fame appearing (as Simon Baker-Denny) in a string of Australian soaps including Home and Away and Heartbreak High. His work on E Street brought him a Logie for most popular new talent of 1992. His Hollywood work began with a small role in L.A. Confidential (1997), the film that launched the international careers of Russell Crowe and Guy Pearce. He has since appeared in 9 films, including Judas Kiss (1998), Restaurant (1999), Ride with the Devil (1999), Sunset Strip (2000), Red Planet (2000) and The Affair of the Necklace (2001), none of them a major hit. “I didn't get the Hugh Jackman ride, or the Heath Ledger ride – one movie and ‘click',” he recently said. “You never know how a film's going to turn out when you're making it. You do the best you can and you hope.” He remains best known for his TV role as the maverick lawyer Nick Fallin in the CBS series The Guardian (2001 – present).
