"In Melbourne 2006, for only the second time in Commonwealth Games history, the
Elite Athletes with Disabilities Events will be featured in the Games/events
timetable alongside their able-bodied peers. The exhibition of these portraits
is a tribute to those individuals who have each overcome major obstacles, such
as corrective surgery, congenital abnormalities and the loss of sight, to
realise their full potential and surpass society’s expectations of them."
